Dr. Jennifer Kress joined the hospital team with a lifelong passion for animal care and an exceptional background in avian and exotic medicine. A native of Stillwater, Minnesota, she earned her undergraduate degree in Child Psychology with a minor in Biological Studies from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities College of Liberal Arts in 2009. She went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. Dr. Kress is a proud member of both the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). Her professional interests include avian and exotic animal medicine, small animal dentistry, and surgery. She finds the most satisfaction in providing compassionate and holistic care to people’s most cherished loved ones.
Outside of work, Dr. Kress shares her home—and her heart—with a lively flock of birds and other companions. Her avian family includes five Goffin cockatoos (The Goo, Luca Lou, Queenie, SuzyQ, and BooBoo), two Umbrella cockatoos (Cooper and Birdie), a Galah cockatoo named Clemente, a Citron cockatoo named Malcolm, two Green Cheek conures (JuneBug and Fenton), three cockatiels (Sasha, Orson, and Princess), and a leopard gecko named Clyde. Some of her feathered friends even rotate shifts at the clinic, delighting staff and clients alike—especially Luca, who’s known for proudly saying “Big Wing!” while showing off his span. When she’s not at the clinic, Dr. Kress enjoys relaxing at home with her partner, watching movies, exploring new restaurants, and hunting for treasures at thrift and antique shops. Her enthusiasm for birds and commitment to their care continue to inspire both her colleagues and clients every day.
